Textbook Buying Guide

The JCC FSA Campus Store carries all textbooks requested by professors teaching on SUNY JCC campuses.

Textbooks can be purchased in store or online at: campusstore.sunyjcc.edu. Textbooks ordered online can be shipped to a residence or picked up in store at your convenience. A valid Photo ID is required when picking up a textbook order.

Textbooks can be paid for with cash, credit card, check, or Financial Aid. To use Financial Aid, a SUNY JCC ID is required or a valid photo ID and copy of a student schedule. A student schedule is required when purchasing books to ensure the correct textbooks.

Textbook return policy: Receipt required, 1 week from date of purchase, and textbooks must be original condition with all components.

Textbooks should be purchased on the campus that the class is being held on. This ensures that the correct book is available.

Textbook Options

New - These textbooks are brand new and have never been used. In some cases new books are available in a less expensive loose leaf format. A folder or binder would be needed. These textbooks, if eligible, can be sold back at Book Buyback.

Used - Used textbooks have been bought back from past students or purchased from a textbook vendor and are resold at a savings to a new student. These textbooks, if eligible, can be sold back at Book Buyback.

Rental - Rental textbooks are available in two formats; New Rental & Used Rental. Rentals are subject to availability and are not available for all textbooks. Rentals are due back by specified date at the end of the semester. These books can be paid for with cash, credit card, check, or Financial Aid, but a credit card must be used to secure the rental.

Book Buyback

Book Buyback is offered at 5 different times throughout the calendar year. Make sure to sell your books back at the end of semester to maximize your books value.

Textbook FAQ
If I buy a used textbook will it be the same edition as the new textbook?
Yes, all used textbooks are the same edition as a new textbook.
Why aren’t there used textbooks available for every course?
There are a few factors that can affect the availability of used textbooks. If a textbook goes to a new edition no used will be available. Also, if a professor starts using a custom edition, these are not available from used textbook wholesalers. Some textbooks that have access codes that are used can’t be bought back.
Should I rent or buy a textbook?
Renting offers you the most savings but it must be returned by a specified date at the end of the semester. Rental textbooks cannot be sold at book buyback. You must have a credit card to secure the rental.
Why aren’t all titles available for rental?
Textbooks that are pre-bundled by the publisher or require an access code are often unavailable for rental. Some textbooks are customized for that specific semester and may not be used again.
